Some of my favorite restaurants in Norwich

Norwich was rich in the variety of food options. The many restaurants, pubs, market stalls, cafes, and grocery stores allow almost anyone to enjoy a meal in Norwich no matter their dietary restrictions. I was lucky enough to eat at some delicious and unique restaurants that I would recommend to anyone unsure of where to eat in Norwich.

Erpingham House

Erpingham house, located in Tombland right in front of the Cathedral, was a completely vegan restaurant. The interior aesthetic was a combination of modern glam and natural glam. There was a fake tree in the middle of the restaurant with twinkling fairy lights hanging off it along with black walls complemented by the dusty pink velvet chairs and white marble tables. Reading the menu Sav had to ask for confirmation that everything was vegan because they even had nachos and fish and chips listed, but the waitress confirmed that everything served their is vegan. Norwich was actually voted the best place in the UK to be a vegan so I was looking forward to trying the vegan cuisine. We started with fresh cold pressed juice to energize and hydrate us. I in particular was suffering from lasting effects of a hangover so I was counting on the nutrients in this juice containing carrots, apple, among other beneficial ingredients. We shared the hummus and the nachos for our appetizers which are both worthy of a recommendation however, by the time my entree came I had filled up on juice, hummus, and nachos. I ordered an arugula and lentil salad with edible flowers, chives, parsley, peppers, and sesame seeds. I took half of it home because it was refreshing and delicious but also very hearty and filling due to the lentils. This was a unique restaurant that I plan on going back to.

Adam and Eve Pub

Adam and Eve pub is the oldest pub in Norwich and probably at least one of the oldest pubs in the UK. Almost hidden, it was so tough to find on google maps, this authentically historical spot is a great place to go if you are looking for traditional British pub food, local beers and ciders, and the antique ambiance. Stepping inside felt like stepping into the past as I looked at the wooden beams holding up the structure and the tiny bar surrounded by a few small booths and tables. The flavorful Yorkshire pudding did not disappoint and the crisp local cider tasted so much better than your average bottle of Angry Orchard.

Zizzi

Zizzi is a great mid-tier restaurant option for a night out with friends especially if you aren't looking to break the bank. They serve Italian food and have many affordable options on the menu. My friends and I went to Zizzi for a group dinner and we each found an entree we enjoyed. The pizza was especially tasty and cooked in a wood fired oven. Located in Tombland its in walking distance of bars like Cecilia's and Revolution for post-dinner drinks.

The Belgian Monk

The Belgian Monk is a local pub with an extensive menu serving Belgian style pub food and drinks. The first time I stopped into this pub with friends we just sat at the bar and ordered drinks. I particular their cider menu as a non-beer drinker. I came back for food with friends on a few occasions and both times I ordered the same thing, the beef stew bread bowl with mashed potatoes and greens beans, and a cold glass of the strongbow golden apple cider. The menu included the names of the dishes in Belgian French along with the English translation. This is just another example of the cultural fusion in Norwich.
